The “clinch” covers promote the idea that historical romances aren’t good literature. It is true that many new books have a plot that is nothing but angst over love, but there are many good quality stories that have a plot that includes mystery intrigue and love. Not all historical romances are created equal so why should all the covers just be “clincher” photos that make people think it is an inferior story?

My comment is about the previous poll – where I get my info about books. None of the choices was true for me. I get lots of author newsletters which give me basic info about the books. Then I read lots of reviews. All About Romance is my favorite site now, but I go to other sites, too. If a book sounds interesting to me, I buy the book. I buy 5-10 new every month and lots at FOL book sales. Now I also buy many for my Nook, but I haven’t read most of them. I like holding a book in my hands. I also download books from Audible.com which I listen to in my car. Most of these I have already read.

I have a small collection of beautiful antique clothes, and the underwear is my favorite. So the hardcover is my favorite. It invites me to come in and discover. The paperback cover makes me feel a bit like I’m intruding.

The cover I prefer is the hardcover.

While I voted for the PB cover, it’s not due to the clinch. It’s because the HB cover doesn’t work for me–the undergarment hanging up, etc. So between the two, the PB makes more sense to me.

I much prefer covers without the people, I like it better when the way the main characters look is left to my imagination. I have not seen a cover yet
that matches the way I imagine the people, based on the description in the book. I just like to keep the image I have in my head, they always look
better than the covers.
Thanks for the great books!

I often take my books to Doctor’s waiting room and while taking my granddaughter to McD’s to play with other children (when she was younger it was very often) now she’s 7 it’s once a week.
BUT–those sexy covers drove me to get a KINDLE and now I’m not embarrassed by the book’s covers! Even my hubby thought that EACH book having a sexy cover was a bit over-done!

I prefer the hardcover. I LOVE the Christmas look. The softcover is like any cover you see 12 months of the year. My first romance novels were Christmas anthologies. I saw the Silhouette Regency Christmas novel with its Olde Fashioned covers. The book included Christmas recipes and a note from the author about their traditions. It gave me a Christmasy feeling. From then I look forward to reading the novels that come out. It’s like opening a present on Christmas morning. I enjoy both Regency and modern. I also prefer cluttered old fashioned Christmas trees.

I love the Author and how she writes. It isn’t really the cover I care about as much as I do the story. Both are always attractive to me. Keep writing in the fashion you do and maybe every other book can be sexy or not.

I love hard cover books. They’re my first choice I’ll buy anything you publish in a hard cover. But I’m also a romantic at heart and the cover is so beautiful on the paperback that I bought that too! I also bought the audiobook.! I just love them !! I’m a collector. What can i say.

I just received the paperback of ‘Twas the Night After Christmas, and YES I definitely prefer the sexier paperback. I am saving the book for the holidays, as I like to read my favorite authors’ Christmas stories, then. I KNOW that it will be great. I have now collected nearly all of your books written under other pseudonyms. YEAH! Only 3 yet to find and read.

I love architecture in general. I miss the days when houses and carriages were on covers. I think people on the covers, in general, and across the board, look fake. But, it seems I’m in the minority 🙂

I like both covers, but I prefer paperbacks to read because they fit in my purse and are easier to take with me. The author is my first choice when deciding what to read next, you don’t see the cover after you are transported into the story 🙂

I love both covers but I do think the paperback one would probably sell better. 🙂

I like both, but I love something different. So many covers today are an embracing couple. So I voted for the hardback cover, it’s elegant and inviting.
